DEPARTMENT: Office HOURLY LEVEL: $12.00
SUPERVISOR: Office Manager
Position: Non- Exempt, Part-Time, 18 hrs. weekly
Peer Office Assistant is a hard-working individual able to
undertake a variety of office duties and work diligently
under pressure. They are highly creative, self-motivated,
personally driven individual with a professional
investment in and dedication to the success of
individuals with visual impairments. They have firsthand
knowledge of visual impairment and an understanding of
the unique impact that it has on services for individuals
who have disabilities across all disabilities. This person
will be comfortable working with cross disability
consumers and assisting them in all areas of services.
As well as incorporating new and effective ways to
achieve better results. You will answer to the Office
Manager for duties and responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
• Provide targeted services to consumers within the
Virgin Islands community.
Making sure every visitor is logged, and all safety
procedures are complied with.
• Filing of documents and record keeping.
• Answering and recording telephone calls into
program.
• Assist consumers with selecting product or
merchandise that best fit their needs.
• Shredding of documents.
• Representative of MASH group to document
activities and report into program.
• Assist the other staff and office manager with other
duties.
• Document evidence of communication, preparation,
training delivery and outcomes, and follow-up
efforts.
• Assist in Office Manager in developing program
content, presentation materials, training plans, and
resources, including videos and online courses.
• Assist with running exhibit or display tables at
events.
• Complete Intake on new consumers.
• Work closely and positively with VIAIL team
members.
• Attend virtual and/in person meetings with topics to
include planning, professional development, and
weekly reporting of activities.
• Maintain an online calendar of scheduled trainings,
program meetings, and other events.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Working knowledge of office equipment.
• Excellent organizational and time management
skills.
• Analytical abilities and aptitude in problem-solving
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with community resource
agencies and/or staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• The noise level of the office working conditions is low
to moderate.
• Mostly indoors, occasionally outdoors.
• Moderate amount of travel regional.
